Mansfield telephone cover without the voicemail

Mansfield is changing. New homes are being built to meet growing demand, the historic market place is being revitalised, and Office for National Statistics data from 2020 showed more people moving from London to Mansfield than to any other part of Nottinghamshire. For local firms, more residents and more investment should mean more calls.

Those calls only turn into business if someone answers them. Onwards Answering provides trained receptionists who pick up in your company name, work from a script shaped around what you do and forward every message by email or SMS, with a record kept on our online platform. They can book appointments, take orders, capture leads and transfer calls to the right person, and they can recognise returning callers. They are home-based receptionists in Scotland rather than call centre staff, and a free trial means you can try the service before choosing a package.

Local trades and sectors in Mansfield

Regeneration and a busy town centre shape the businesses most likely to need help with their phones.

Retailers and market traders

The market place sits at the heart of the town's commercial centre, with the Four Seasons shopping centre, Stockwell Gate and three retail parks nearby. Shopkeepers can divert calls while serving customers, and we answer stock questions, take orders and pass on anything that needs a reply from you.

Bars, restaurants and venues

Leeming Street, close to the market place, is home to the Palace Theatre, the Mansfield Museum and a run of restaurants, pubs, bars and nightclubs, and the town's tourism economy grew between 2022 and 2023. Venues can hand us their calls to take table and event bookings when staff are busy.

Builders and housing trades

New homes are being built across the town to meet rising demand. Builders, roofers and electricians spend the day on site, so we answer for them, record job details and addresses, and book surveys and quotes into the diary for when they are free to call back.

Letting and estate agents

With more people moving to the area, including from London, property businesses need to answer every enquiry. Our receptionists can take viewing requests, register applicants using your questions and log maintenance calls from tenants, so agents only need to deal with the details and the follow-up.

Mansfield town profile

Mansfield is a market town and the administrative centre of Mansfield District in Nottinghamshire, lying in the Maun Valley 12 miles north of Nottingham. It is the second largest settlement in the county after Nottingham itself, and in earlier centuries it was the most important of the towns of Sherwood Forest. Henry III granted its market charter in 1227, and it is the one local authority in the county with a publicly elected mayor.

Retail and leisure are central to the town centre, which has had a business improvement district since 2010. Regeneration is under way on several fronts: Levelling Up funding is turning the former Co-operative department store into Mansfield Connect, a hub for the NHS, the Department for Work and Pensions and other services, and further investment is going into the historic market place.

The Robin Hood Line connects the town with Nottingham and Worksop, with East Midlands Railway trains generally running hourly. The M1 runs to the west, reached at junction 27 or 29, and the A60 and A617 carry traffic towards Nottingham, Worksop, Newark-on-Trent and Chesterfield. The dialling code is 01623 and postcodes fall in the NG area. For a firm with more work coming in, remote phone cover is a sensible way to keep up without hiring.

Why Onwards Answering

What makes Onwards Answering different

Real people, never bots

Each call we take is answered by a trained receptionist speaking in your company name, not an automated menu or a recorded voice.

No per-call charges

You pay an agreed monthly package with no per-call fees, no bundles of minutes and no cap on how many calls we answer.

A summary after every call

Every call ends with a summary sent to you by email or SMS, and messages are also kept in the Onwards Answering Connect app and portal.

Familiar callers recognised

Returning callers are recognised, so the people who ring you often are greeted like someone your business already knows.

Voicemail after hours included

When the working day ends, an after-hours voicemail on your business number is included at no extra cost, so callers can still leave a message.

A home-working team in Scotland

Our receptionists are based in Scotland and work from home, backed by team leads and client managers. You get a small, personal team that learns your business, not a large call centre.

Call answering in Mansfield: your questions

Can a small Mansfield shop or trade business afford a call answering service?

Our packages are flexible and built for businesses of every size, including sole traders. Costs depend on the package you choose, and the prices and plans page lays out the options. The free trial also lets you see exactly what you get before you pay anything.

Where will my calls be answered?

By receptionists based in Scotland who work from home, with our headquarters in Glasgow. Callers to your Mansfield business will not hear a call centre, though. They hear a real person using your business name who has been briefed on your services and knows how you like things handled.

What if I am on a roof or under a sink when a customer rings?

That is exactly when the service earns its keep. Divert your phone before you start the job, and we will answer, take the customer's name, number, address and a description of the work, then text or email the details so you can call back when you are free.
